Assistant Professor of Economics at Tulane University
Patrick A. Testa

Biography
Welcome to my site! I completed my Ph.D. in economics at the University of California, Irvine in the spring and joined the Department of Economics at Tulane University as an Assistant Professor this fall.
My current research focuses on the political economy of development. I use a combination of microeconomic theory and empirical methods, utilizing both contemporary and historical data.
At the moment, I'm interested in the urban and regional effects of forced migration, as well as how institutions and culture interact with economic geography.
My paper, "Education and propaganda: Tradeoffs to public education provision in nondemocracies," was recently published in the Journal of Public Economics.
